On May 7, 2019 Pope Francis signed, and on June 1, 2019 went into effect, an apostolic letter issued motu propio entitled Vos estis lux mundi.

Among other things, Vos Estis, as it's known, was a de facto Bill of Rights for survivors of the Catholic sex abuse crisis.

What impact has Vos Estis had for survivors like me?

Actually?

Nothing.

At best.

Because the Pope refuses to enforce it.

Vos Estis Lux Mundi

While Vos Estis was greeted with joy by survivors — like me — in truth Vos Estis is nothing more than a cruel taunt directed at survivors.

The Reality of Vos Estis

As I discuss in...

...since June 2019, I have made multiple appeals to the Vatican and the Pope under Vos Estis, laying out violations of Vos Estis by the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

The response from the Vatican and Pope Franics?

Nothing.

Silence.

Contrary to what is implied by Vos Estis, the Vatican and Pope Francis simply don't care about the plight of survivors.

Perhaps because bishops like Timothy Cardinal Dolan — in turning a blind eye to the abuse of children and then our plight as survivors — were and are simply doing their jobs?

Perhaps, like the Nazis who worked in the extermination camps during World War II, they were — and still are — just following orders?
