The way to maximize your ability to hit or throw a baseball is
to learn how to hit or throw a ball with your entire body. In
particular, that means using the large muscles of your lower
torso, hips, and upper legs (e.g. your core). Great pitchers and
hitters do this by rotating their hips ahead of their shoulders.
This creates separation, which stretches the muscles of the core
and enables them to powerfully pull the shoulders around.

Separation is principle that applies to more than just baseball.
If you look at the swing of Tiger Woods, you will see
significant separation between hips hips and shoulders.
